April and Ben Celestino

April and Ben Celestino are a mother and son baking team in Cary, North Carolina. Not only do they make the most phenomenal baked goods which they sell at their local farmer's market and on-line at www.bakestand.com, but their business has a wonderful philosophy: Appreciate the Simple Things in Life.

I like to support small, independent businesses that have great products. You know that you're getting homemade goods that use fresh ingredients and at the same time you're supporting two wonderful people.

How do I know they're wonderful? April is my sister and Ben is my nephew! April can make me laugh like no one else (ask her about Keanu Reeves!) and Ben is a great student, a kind person, and a good friend to everyone in his class. He's funny and brave and loves Star Wars.

 

April and Ben are totally cool people in my book. I admire them for starting their own business and for running it with integrity. (Plus, I wholeheartedly recommend the chocolate pound cake!)
